I am continually struck by the way my work reveals truths I struggle to articulate in words. Over the past eighteen months, I have immersed myself in learning photography, capturing thousands of images in an attempt to understand and express my response to the changing environment around me. Yet none of those images spoke as clearly or as honestly as this one.

This work emerged unexpectedly. Encountering this rock felt like encountering a voice, silent, yet insistent. It seemed to hold within it the story of our landscape as it is now: drying, hardening, and shifting under the pressure of a changing climate. The forms and textures echo a sense of endurance, but also fragility.

Living in this region, I have become increasingly aware of the impact of harsher weather patterns. Our waters are under stress, and the fish, so integral to the ecosystem, are already reflecting what may lie ahead. This image is both a reflection and a warning. It captures a moment that feels deeply present, yet unavoidably connected to an uncertain future.
